New Exam Outline in 2025

In 2023 the ABVLM convened a Job Task Analysis task force. This group worked with ABVLM's psychometrician to identify the typical practices of a venous and lymphatic physician. As a part of this work, ABVLM surveyed VLM physicians who were both certified and noncertified.

The Task Force found that only minor edits were needed to the existing exam content outline. Beginning in 2025, the ABVLM will focus on four (4) core content areas: Basic Science, Diagnostic Evaluation, Knowledge and Skills Integral to the Practice of VLM, and Clinical Management. This updated content outline will inform the content of the certification exam and the items for the Online Learning & Assessment MOC requirement.

MOC Reminders

All diplomates must complete ABVLM’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirements on an annual basis. Below are a few upcoming reminders to help you remain in compliance:

  1. December 31, 2024: All 2024 Online Learning & Assessment (OLA) items must be answered. The system will lock you out beginning January 1st.

  2. March 31, 2025:

    1. Pay your annual MOC fee of $425. 98% of diplomates successfully completed this step in 2024. Let’s increase participation to 99% in the new year!

    2. If you received your certification in an even year (i.e. 2020, 2022, etc.), your CME attestation is due.

Recognize Your DABVLM Status

Celebrate your diplomate status! ABVLM now offers a number of different ways to promote your certification status.

  1. DABVLM Designation. Add the designation to the end of your name.

  2. DABVLM Badge. Add the badge to your website and email signature.

  3. ABVLM Patient Brochure. Include copies of the ABVLM Patient Brochure in your office to help educate patients and other providers on the importance of seeing and referring to a DABVLM.

Also, don’t forget to follow ABVLM on LinkedIn.
