New Exam Outline in 2025

In 2023 the ABVLM convened a Job Task Analysis task force. This group worked with ABVLM's psychometrician to identify the typical practices of a venous and lymphatic physician. As a part of this work, ABVLM surveyed VLM physicians who were both certified and noncertified.

The Task Force found that only minor edits were needed to the existing exam content outline. Beginning in 2025, the ABVLM will focus on four (4) core content areas: Basic Science, Diagnostic Evaluation, Knowledge and Skills Integral to the Practice of VLM, and Clinical Management. This updated content outline will inform the content of the certification exam and the items for the Online Learning & Assessment MOC requirement.
